LEEDS, LEGENDS AND COLLABORATIONS
Robert’s writing has brought him into contact with some of the most important figures in Leeds United history and with the families who preserve their stories.
His work has ranged from Don Revie and the great Leeds side of the 1960s and 1970s to the extraordinary modern era under Marcelo Bielsa. His interest has always extended beyond what happened on the pitch to the personalities, relationships, and human stories behind the club.
Robert worked closely with Les Cocker’s family to tell the story of one of the less celebrated but hugely important figures of the Revie era — the coach whose influence stretched from Leeds United to England and the 1966 World Cup.
His collaboration with Eddie Gray developed into Eddie Gray’s Leeds — an alternative history of Leeds United told through the life and memories of a man who has served the club as player, coach, manager, and ambassador. Published in December 2025, it became the first book released by Legacy 11 Books.
Robert’s fascination with another Leeds great produced The Gigante, his fictional retelling of John Charles’ extraordinary journey from Yorkshire to Juventus and his transformation into Il Gigante Buono — the Gentle Giant.
Alongside his books, Robert regularly discusses Leeds United past and present with fellow author Dave Tomlinson on the NICE n REVIE YouTube channel, mixing history, opinion, memories, and good-humoured disagreement.
LEGACY 11 BOOKS
Legacy 11 Books grew out of Robert and Dave’s work together during 2025. For Robert, independent publishing offered something particularly important: the freedom to tell football stories in the way he believed they should be told.
Since its launch, the imprint has already developed beyond its original Leeds United foundations. Robert and Dave now work together selecting, developing, editing, and publishing books through Legacy 11 — while continuing to write their own.
Robert remains at the heart of what the imprint is trying to achieve: football books with personality, authenticity, and a story worth telling.
