Legacy 11 Books is an independent football publisher founded by authors Robert Endeacott and Dave Tomlinson.
It grew from a shared belief that the best football books are about far more than results and statistics. They are about people, places, memories, personalities, triumphs, disasters, and the stories that survive long after the final whistle.
Robert and Dave had written more than 25 football books between them before joining forces in 2025 while working together on the WILKO92 campaign. What began as a conversation about creative independence became Legacy 11 Books — a publishing house built by football writers, for football writers and readers.
Leeds United is at its heart. It is the club both have followed since childhood and written about for decades. But Legacy 11 also publishes selected books from the wider world of football when the right story and the right opportunity come along.
The first Legacy 11 publication was Eddie Gray’s Leeds, Robert’s collaboration with one of the greatest figures in Leeds United history.
Published in December 2025, it tells the story of Leeds through Eddie’s extraordinary life at the club — as player, coach, manager, and lifelong servant — combining his memories with Robert’s alternative history of the team they both love.
It established what Legacy 11 wanted its books to be: independent, personal, distinctive, and made to be read and kept.
Since then, the list has grown. The Gigante tells the remarkable story of John Charles and his transformation from reluctant exile in Turin to Il Gigante Buono, while Harry Harris’ The Black Book takes Legacy 11 into the wider football world through five decades of stories from one of Fleet Street’s most celebrated football journalists.
Legacy 11 is deliberately small and independent.
That gives us the freedom to choose books because we believe in them, work closely with our authors, and give each title the attention it deserves.
Our roots remain firmly in Leeds United, and there are many more Leeds stories still to tell. But our ambitions reach further. We are interested in distinctive football books with strong voices, compelling stories, and something worthwhile to say — whether they begin at Elland Road or somewhere else entirely.
